The rise to power for Hitler was interesting. After speaking to huge amounts of audiences, he announced he wanted to create a new empire that would rule the world for one thousand years. Around 1930, it was said that 18% of his Nazi Party captured the votes. Two years later, in 1932, Hitler ran for president and won about 30% of the entire votes which forced the Hindenburg, off the election.  President Hugenberg, had wished to use Hitler’s popularity to secure power. Around January 1933, Hitler was in office.

This is when things really started to change. Hitler ordered the police not to “interfere” with the SA and SS no matter what. So it anyone was being beaten, harassed, or murdered by Nazis, they should not be helped. On February 22, 50,000 men who were (mostly in the SA and SS ) were brawling and becoming a murderous Nazi storm. They basically has the power of the police. This led to on February 24, them raided Communist headquarters in Berlin. A turning point came in, and four thousand members were arrested. Then, on February 27, a man named Marinus van der Lubbe from Holland, broke into the Reichstag building around 9pm, took his short off, and lit it on fire. That became his torch. The Reichstag fire, came out in order to severely limit civil liberties.

In August 1934, Hindenburg died. With Hindenburg’s death, this allowed Hitler legal access to President’s powers anyway.

The changes that Hitler claimed was him becoming a dictator. He decreased challenges from government institutions and political parties. For preparation for war, the German industrial machine was built.

But obviously, this wasn’t enough for Hitler. Around the year 1937, the Fahrer Conference came into affect. This conference included Hitler’s plans for world domination. Anyone who disagreed with this, was fired.
